Summary: Valerian gets some education he's actually been looking forward to

Valerian lay on his bed, scratching his head as he looked through a book on Arithmancy. It was summer vacation, having just finished his fourth year at Drumstrang, and should have been out enjoying it like Valentina was. (She and their father had gone to take care of some bothersome idiots trying to disrupt one of their businesses in several locations.) But there was an Arithmancy problem he'd found before leaving school for the summer and it was vexing him.

After a moment, he slammed the book shut and lay back on his bed. He lay back and rubbed his eyes, forgetting the problem for now and thinking of what he could do with his day, totally failing to come up with anything.

	Mel was enjoying having the Manor almost to herself. Her parents were in Australia no doubt enjoying themselves to the fullest. They deserved to have lots of fun now that they were pretty much retired. As she walked past her son's room, she heard the distinct sound of a book slamming. She leaned against the open door.
